What Did You Do in School Today?

Try to make sure everybody is represented on the tape.

Objectives

Children 4-5 will be able to tell what happened today Lang. IIB
children 2 ½ -3 years will be able to recognize environmental sounds Lang. IA
and all children will participate in showing be facial expressions or gesture that he/she recognizes own voice and they will point to the child of whose voice was heard Lang. IA

 
 
 

Materials

Tape recorder and tape made of activities of that same day.

Procedures

1. While children are outside playing, tape voices, actions, and environmental sounds.

2. Have children sit in a circle or on the rug. Play the tape made during the playtime and have the children point to the child whose voice is heard. Ask the owner of the recognized voice to stand up and tell what she things she was doing when her voice was heard. Taking turns, have each child describe his activity based on the taped voice.

3. Play the tape again, listening for environmental sounds instead of voices. Encourage a variety of possibilities for each sound.
