Life Size Self Portraits

A simple project that yields revealing results. Do this at the beginning and end of the year. Be sure to take pictures.

 

 

 

Objectives

Children ages 5-6 can draw recognizable pictures FM III
ages 4-5 can draw meaningful picture to self FM III
ages 2 ½-3 can paint stokes, dots, and circular shapes FM III
and ages 2-3 can understand simple directions Lang. IA

Materials

48" sheets of butcher paper; poster paints in assorted colors; brushes.

Procedures

1. Attach paper to wall and put paints on the floor below paper.

2. Be very explicit in instructions. Tell children, "Paint a picture of yourself as big as you are."

3. Let them go at it.
